Sensors
Sensors
Many sensor elements were chosen with the help of E. Kysely
- Eyes
Two color QuickCam from Connectrix Corp. We use a 120x160 pixel bitmap, separate for green, blue and red, with 6 levels of color intensity. The object recognition software has been barely started. For the moment only one eye will be used, connected directly to the computer by a serial interface cable. Total cost 770 dollars.
- Ear
A standard Macintosh microphone, conected directly to the computer, is in use. The software distinguishes only flute tones at present.
- Verticality sensors
Two PEWATRON AG inclinometers, model T2-3600-1, will be installed. One for front to back inclination and one for left to right inclination. Total cost 490 dollars.
- Limb position sensors are attached. (Jan '00 - May '01)
22 encoders, model RS Ace 263-2918. size without shaft: 9x23x28 mm (.35x.9x1.1 inches). The encoders report a different byte of grey code every 3 degrees by an eight wire telephon cable. Total cost 210 dollars
- Touch sensors
It is planned to use 6 pressure sensors, model FSR-151 from IEE (International Electronics Engineering). Diameter 15mm x 0.4mm (.6 inch dia x .02 thickness) Total cost 30 dollars.
There will be a touch sensor at each thumb, and two at the sole of each foot (front and back).
