The Mind

This is a further development of the General Learner (For continuos reading, like a book - do not enter here now) and is based on the theory of the Intelligent System (For continuos reading, like a book - do not enter here now).. The source code and the compiled version of the original General Learner are "free software" on an "as is" basis, with no guarantees.
The program is written in the C language and will run on a Macintosh Quadra 605 (68K processor) with system 8.1. The source code will run and compile under the Metrowerks development system.

Sense input

• Keyboard and mouse input: is running.
• Sound input: running for flute tones only (Speech implementation deferred).
• Vision: in development. Low level vision is running for one QuickCam only. High level vision not started (deferred until after walking capability).
• Verticality sensor: Low level software done. High level software (balancing) not started.
• Limb position sensors: Low level software done.
• Touch sensors software: not started.
• Interface between serial port of computer to sensors and air valves. Finalized and located in the head of Robby.

Building up the present situation

• Simple build up of the present situation (including abstraction of objects and composing objects from parts): is running.
• Prediction of future position of objects: not started.
• Grouping of objects: not started.

Selecting an action

• Simple selection: is running.
• Selection by subobjective: not started (existed in a previous program).
• Imagination and planning (planning existed in a previous program): code not started.
• Instinct of imitation: not started.
• Instinct of curiosity: not started (existed in a previous program).

Motor area

• Sound output (flute tones) and output of text on screen is running.
• Body movement software has been written. In tryout.

Learning (on line and while sleeping)

• Several modes of learning are running.
• Pattern extraction from response rules needs further development.
